"I am adding an end date of 25 November to the “same-sex marriage ban” for Romania because as of that date, following the binding ruling of the Court of Justice of the European Union, Romania is now legally required to recognise same-sex marriages concluded in other EU member states. While domestic law has not been changed and Romania still does not allow same-sex marriage internally, the absolute legal ban ended on that date due to mandatory foreign recognition under EU law. Therefore, the previous “ban” status is no longer fully accurate after 25 November."
