DescriptionTransgender individuals in Finland are legally protected when accessing public facilities and restrooms matching their gender identity. Under the Act on Equality between Women and Men (Tasa-arvolaki 609/1986, as amended in 2015), discrimination based on gender identity ('sukupuoli-identiteetti') and gender expression ('sukupuolen ilmaisu') is explicitly prohibited in access to public goods, services, and facilities.
