ACCEPT

"The ACCEPT Association, founded in 1996, is the first organization in Romania dedicated to defending the rights of LGBTQIA+ people. It played a key role in the decriminalization of homosexuality (2001) and in the adoption of anti-discrimination legislation. The association advocates for the legal recognition of same-sex families, for dignified procedures for transgender people, and provides legal assistance in cases of discrimination and hate crimes. Notable successes include the Coman-Hamilton and Arian cases at the CJEU, as well as the ECHR rulings in the cases of Buhuceanu, Ciobotaru and 20 other families, and X and Y against Romania. ACCEPT runs awareness campaigns, promotes inclusion, and provides support to the LGBTQIA+ community through legal, psychological, and transition assistance."
