| Description | It is Illegal to provide gender affirming care to minors in Mississippi following bill HB1125. As always, there is an exception made for intersex infants categorised in the aforementioned bill as "medically verifiable disorder of sex development". Additionally, gender reassignment surgery is excluded from Medicaid coverage. Since April 2026, Ambetter Insurance, owned by the largest provider of Medicare and Medicaid insurances in the nation, has stopped covering hormones and other transition medicine for trans adults. This is the first known insurance company to deny care in a large swath of states as the broader trend of restricting gender-affirming care continues. |
