The Zambia Civil Liberties Union’s primary purpose is to defend the Constitution of Zambia, promote its ideals, objectives, and the rule of law as the bedrock of democracy and good governance. This includes the protection of civil liberties, human rights for all, refugee and migrant rights, and constitutional values and principles.

Currently, the organization is challenging Article 155(a) and (c), which criminalize homosexuality, before the Constitutional Court.
