DescriptionOn 30th december 2025, Kazakhstan’s president signed a law prohibiting LGBT and pedophilia propaganda in the media, telecommunication networks, and online platforms.

According to a statement on the official website of Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, these norms are also included in legal restrictions on the distribution of illegal content, but it did not specify when the law comes into force.

The bill was earlier approved by both chambers of Kazakhstan's parliament. Violations of the law could incur a fine of 144,500 Kazakh tenge ($280) and administrative detention for up to 10 days.
