DescriptionIn 2007, the Philippines enacted a Magna Carta for protections of the rights of public social workers, which includes protection from discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation. However, gender identity remains unprotected.

In 2012, the Philippines passed Order No. 40 which prohibits discrimination in schools against children on the basis of their sexual orientation or gender identity. This also applies in Western Visayas.

In 2016, Iloilo began prohibiting discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation and gender identity in the areas of good and services, employment and housing but not in healthcare. No other protections exist in other provinces of Western Visayas.
