DescriptionIn Oman, LGBTQ issues are censored to the point of imprisonment with several newspeople going to jail for reporting on such as a result of the Publications and Publishing Act of 1984. Article 25 prohibits anything that “disrupts public order or calls people to embrace or promote anything deemed in contravention of the principles of the Islamic religion” while Article 28 prohibits anything that “might prejudice the public code of conduct, moral norms or divine religions”, which both being used against LGBTIQ+ topics.

Additionally, transgender women’s gender expression is criminalised by Oman’s Penal Code of 2018, which prohibits crossdressing. However, in practice, this hasn’t been enforced since 2018.
