DescriptionTransgender individuals in South Dakota are legally restricted from using public restrooms and changing rooms in state-owned buildings and public schools that align with their gender identity. House Bill 1259 allows individuals to seek legal action against schools or government entities if those entities fail to stop someone from using a facility that does not match their sex assigned at birth.
