The law forbade "sexual acts “against nature.” This is understood to ban same-sex sexual activity, it is punishable by up to 5 years imprisonment and/or a 1,000,000 Comorian franc fine. However, it is not believed to be actively enforced except for the prosecution of a lesbian couple in 2024. The 2024 case is the only known prosecution in the country's history.

Article 13 of the Family Code (2005) defines marriage as a legal union contract between a man and a woman.

Article 77 establishes that a woman may request a divorce if her husband is homosexual.

In Comoros, there are no laws restricting the discussion or promotion of LGBTQ+ topics. Reportedly, the police were also willing to protect LGBTQ+ individuals from attempts at suppression or hate crimes.

"The business owner must take all necessary measures to prevent, put an end to, and/or punish any verbal or non-verbal remarks, acts, or behaviors of a sexual or sexist nature, or any other behavior based on sex or taking into account real or perceived sexuality, intended or resulting in an infringement of the rights and dignity of women or girls, or creating an intimidating, hostile, degrading, humiliating, or offensive environment, including by informing employees, implementing investigative procedures, and taking precautionary measures."
