In 2020, the Supreme Court struck down several local laws issued in several cities, including in the Paraná cities of Cascavel (Law No. 6496) (2015), Foz do Iguaçu (Law No. 47) (2018), Londrina (Law No. 55) (2018), and Paranaguá (Law No. 3,468) (2015). These laws prohibited learning materials with “gender ideology” information and implementation of educational policies related to “gender ideology,” gender, or sexual orientation.
However, other laws with similar content from the city of Araponga appear to be still in force.
